Seeking an Experienced Estimator/Project Manager to Join Our Team:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager/Estimator to join our team at Royal T. This role combines project management and estimating expertise, specifically in civil engineering, to coordinate and complete heavy civil projects in both residential and commercial markets. The ideal candidate will work closely with project owners, vendors, subcontractors, foremen, and our accounting staff to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and implement comprehensive project schedules.
• Review and redline project plans, specifications, and proposal documents to determine the scope of work and identify potential issues.
• Prepare detailed estimates for excavating, earthwork, underground utilities, and other heavy civil projects by calculating quantity take-offs, material prices, labor costs, and equipment costs.
• Manage the bidding process, including subcontractor hiring and procurement of materials.
• Communicate effectively with vendors and subcontractors to secure accurate quotes and establish strong supply chain relationships.
• Review historical data and compile summary reports to develop guidelines for future estimates.
• Monitor and maintain project schedules weekly, ensuring adherence to construction standards and quality control.
• Maintain detailed records of project activities, including daily logs, reports, and correspondence.
• Facilitate job site meetings, addressing relevant issues and preparing minutes for documentation.
• Present change order requests and manage awarded contracts, including estimating extra work items and credits.
• Organize and prioritize tasks effectively, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Complete all tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
Requirements:
• 3 to 5 years of direct experience as a Project Manager and Estimator in Civil Engineering.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced using bid software; familiarity with construction management software is a plus.
• Strong understanding of construction terms, scheduling, and planning concepts.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, specifications, schematic diagrams, and isometric drawings.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong math skills and the ability to manage detailed estimates.
• Knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, and applicable standards.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively assign and explain work assignments to team members.
• Preferred: College education in Construction Management or a related field.
